Cork industry ‘Corticeira Amorim’ was our first destination on Wednesday. In the cork factory we were able to learn about the whole process of processing cork starting from acquiring the bark from cork trees, selection procedure, manufacturing wine stoppers and uses of the material of different qualities. The wine stoppers will always remind us of this visit 
Later on the group headed for Professional School of Rural Development in Alter do Chão. Here we learnt about its projects concerning environment protection and sustainability. We also had a guided tour of the stables, which introduced us to the world of beautiful Lusitano thoroughbred horses.
